Maruti Suzuki starts production of new Dzire at Gurgaon plant

Car market leader, Maruti Suzuki India, has started manufacturing the new Dzire, at Gurgaon plant besides rolling it out from the troubled Manesar facility. It aims to clear pending orders of over 65,000 units of the popular new compact sedan and looks forward to increase overall production by 10% in this fiscal. At present it has over 65,000 pending orders for the new Dzire and the waiting period is about 4-5 months.
Prior to this, the company was rolling out the old version of the sedan from the Gurgaon plant, while the Manesar plant was producing the new Dzire. But now Gurgaon plant has also started manufacturing the new Dzire after the lockout at the Manesar plant was lifted. The new Dzire is one of the best selling models of the company.
Country’s largest car maker also expects to arrive at full capacity levels at its troubled Manesar plant by October. It aims to complete hiring of new workers and conversion of some existing contract workers to permanent positions by September-end, by when a second shift will also be started at the plant.
